Deering Goodtime

Best Deering Beginner Banjo - Deering Good Time Banjos

The Deering Goodtime 1 and Deering Goodtime 2, Goodtime Parlor  Goodtime Special and Goodtime Artisan Banjos

Check our complete selection of Deering Goodtime Banjos and Deering Goodtime Banjo Ukes. Goodtime Banjos are great for for learning Bluegrass, Clawhammer, Folk, 4-string banjo styles and other banjo styles. Choose from Goodtimes with resonator, lightweight open back, Goodtime Special with flathead tonering or the Goodtime Artisan with all the features!

The "Deering Goodtime 1" open back or "Deering Goodtime 2" with resonator Beginner Banjo's are really an easy banjo to play which makes it an even easier banjo to learn on. The price is right too and with our superior beginner package you can get started playing and practicing right away.

We also cary the Deering Goodtime Banjo Ukes which is the best banjo uke I've seen, the Goodtime Irish Tenor with 17 frets, the Goodtime Parlor, a 5-string 19 fret travel banjo or the best banjo for kids, the Goodtime artisan parlor banjo,  the 4-string Goodtime tenor or Deering lectrum Goodtime and the Goodtime Drop Kick Murphy, a 19 fret signature Irish Tenor Banjo.

We can install the Good Time Armrest on the Goodtime 1!
The Goodtime 1 does not come with the armrest like the more expensive Goodtime 2 does. We came up with a solution! We can install it for you before shipping for only the normal discounted $22 price of the armrest.
We install the Goodtime 1 banjo armrest free at banjoteacher.com
Add Planetary Tuning Pegs to Good Time Banjos at BanjoTeacher.com
We now offer the option to upgrade the standard Guitar tuners that come on Good Time Banjos to Deering's Good Time Planetary Tuning Pegs.
Good Time Banjos come standard with Guitar Tuners. Guitar Tuners while functional on a banjo only come on beginner banjos that do not cost that much because it saves the manufacturer, and ultimately the customer money. But not because they work better or are the preferred tuning Pegs for a 5-string banjo. Banjos use Planetary geared pegs called Planet Pegs both for functionality and looks.
Because of the way a banjo with its round shape balances in your lap it is awkward to tune the 1st and 2nd strings on a banjo with guitar tuners. Looks wise, it makes a huge difference. Planet pegs stick straight back from the banjo peghead so they are not seen from the front of the banjo.
Nothings says "Beginner Banjo" more than guitar tuners because only lower priced beginner banjos have guitar tuners. Upgrading to the Planet Pegs is a wise investment when you first buy your Good Time Banjo. If you try to do it on your own later, it will cost more and you will be left with little screw holes in the back of your headstock from where the guitar tuning pegs were installed.

Comments from Ross Nickerson
I've had many students start with this model with a lot of success. Its one of those banjos you just don't want to put down. I know you'll be satisfied if you choose to learn on the Deering Goodtime Banjo.

I wrote the above paragraph back when we added the Good time Banjos to the site. I just received these comments below by email. He mentions how he can't put it down. As a teacher that's one of the biggest attribute and selling points for the Goodtime 1.

.....Even in the short time that I have had it, I find it almost irresistible for its light weight and tone (just snatch it off the rack and practice for a while;) John C

Customer email feedback
....Hello Ross, I received my Goodtime Banjo in, what to me must be, record time; not more than 48 hours after we spoke on the phone..... The armrest and the capo spikes are also a welcome addition. Finally, the setup was perfect, just a quick tune and I was ready to go. It will suit my needs perfectly as my wife and I travel a lot in our RV. Thank you for recommending it!
