The Deering Beginner Banjo Goodtime 2 with resonator made in the USA is perfect for learning to play bluegrass 5-string banjo with its light weight easy feel.
A wood back resonator back provides more projection of sound. The Good Time 2 is built at the Deering shop with the same tooling used to make their top of the line banjos.
The Deering Goodtime II is a great bluegrass banjo to learn on and its the only beginner banjo that is american made in its price range. Even with the resonator its super light and easy to play. I ordered the banjo knowing shipping to Alaska is often expensive. It was more than the guesstimate and Ross called to say how much more it was, and said he could help with that cost, but I said it was fine to charge me. He asked if I was sure. The banjo arrived today in great shape with all the extras he adds as well as extras I ordered. I really appreciate the service and am enjoying the sound of my new Goodtime II. Plus the case was upgraded from the upgrade I ordered and that was an extra I didn't expect but sure noticed. Highly recommend banjo teacher and the willingness Ross has to work at not just providing a good quality instrument, but the extra to make sure you can learn to use it. Thank you Ross, God bless you.

Getting ready to begin my second year with this banjo- my first, so had nothing to compare. Went to a music store and played around with an import last week. I was happy with this purchase and happy I chose to buy through Banjoteacher. I was even happier after the music store visit! Personally, there is something about owning a uniquely American instrument that was also manufactured here. I have a long way to go before my playing will justify a new banjo, but when the time comes, I will most likely stick with Deering and Banjoteacher. Little things mean a lot. When my tuner lost its juice and I would have had to go to the store, I double checked my goodie bag- and there was an extra set of batteries! Just a nice touch of class! Thank You!

I received my Goodtime Two a few days ago, and am very happy so far. Ross is a wonderful person to work with, and will answer all of your questions. He is very helpful in trying to find the best fit for your needs. Most importantly, he takes excellent care to insure that you are a happy customer!
The customer service that Ross provides is over the top, which isn’t as easy to find these days....so don’t hesitate to give him a call! Should I see an upgrade in the future, I’ll be giving Ross a call.

Good afternoon. I wanted to let you know that I really like the Deering Good Time 2 that I received. In fact, it is actually quite a bit better than I expected a basic-intermediate grade banjo to be. It sounds great and is well built. Now if I can just learn to do it justice in playing! This is my second purchase from you (having purchased a Recording King Dirty 30s Open Back 5 String Banjo from you earlier). Both purchases were great from start to finish, and I really appreciate the time Ross took to answer my questions. I will recommend BanjoTeacher.com for anyone in the market for a banjo or instruction. And when it's time for me to upgrade...I'll be back!
