Deering Sierra in Maple and Mahogany - Ross Nickerson Videos
BanjoTeacher.com owner Ross Nickerson playing on a brand new Deering Sierra Maple Banjo, Lonesome Reuben in D tuning and Turkey in the Straw in G tuning. Lonesome Reuben comes from the playing of Earl Scruggs and is sometimes just called Reuben or "Reuben's Train". Ross's version is based on the Earl Scruggs version and is played in the Scruggs Style with some twists of his own. Ross's version of Turkey in the Straw mixes Melodic Style Banjo and Scruggs Style Banjo Techniques.
This Deering Sierra is brand new and a good example of what they sound like right out of the box. Deerings are made with a sophisticated CNC machine and are all very consistent. It's an awesome banjo made extremely well and I couldn't be happier. It sounds terrific, better than I expected.
