Russell is an expert in Tableidt and the sound files, while electronic, they sound more like a banjo than they normally do with Tabledit because of his expertise in the settings.

Hot Banjo Breaks for 30 Bluegrass Jam Standards Author: Russell Sawler
Russell Sawler is one of New Brunswick’s best and best known banjo players and has just published this compilation of arrangements for some common bluegrass standards. Although he is well known for his 7 books of transcriptions of JD Crowe solos and back up, this book takes another approach. Here Russell has put together some of his own work and the tabs include Scruggs style playing interspersed with many ‘melodic’ style positions, single string licks and licks that Russell has picked up over the years from some of the best players on the planet. His uncanny sense of Scruggs style timing and synchopation, his tasteful use of diatonic scales, chromatic licks and minor pentatonics and and his respect for the basic melody lines results in some really fantastic banjo solos that I know you are going to want to learn. What’s more is that the arrangements are very ‘playable’ for the intermediate player. But even of you’re a beginner you’ll get some wonderful ideas from this compilation. I highly recommend this book!
As well as being an expert banjo player, Russel is a prolific tabledit expert and has published many transcriptions on the playing of JD Crowe, Sammy Shelor, Kristin Scott Benson, Greg Chaill, Ross Nickerson, Jason Davis and more.
