The songs chosen are all melodies you are familiar with or can pick up easy.
However, it's not about the songs, it's about gaining the skill to play the melody on the 5-string banjo. Playing the melody is a skill that needs to be developed and practiced so you can bring out and accentuate any melody you choose.
