Set Up and Banjo Repair Questions
Question
Hi
Ross
Just a quick
note to say how much I am enjoying the courses I have downloaded from you.
I
have recently detected vibration on my 4th string when fretting. All the other
strings are fine and it is a new set of strings. Are there any banjo websites
who diagnose and advise on these problems.
My
Response
That
means your string action, distance between the strings and neck is too close,
or a single high fret maybe, I recommend taking it to someone.
If
you want to tinker, the action needs to be raised, a slightly higher bridge is
a quick fix but sometimes goes too high.
If
you want to learn to make repairs yourself, I recommend the Steve Huber set up
video, it will teach you a lot and could possibly keep you from causing any more
serious problems.
Thanks
again,
Sincerely,
Ross Nickerson
