This American made beginner banjo is easy to learn on and reasonably priced.The Goodtime banjo is very light which makes learning easier at first. Customer email feedback ....Hello Ross, I received my Goodtime Banjo in, what to me must be, record time; not more than 48 hours after we spoke on the phone.
I love it. It’s a great, light-weight, banjo with excellent tone. Is it the equivalent of a $1,200 - $1,500 banjo? Of course not, it’s not intended to be. I have read many reviews of the Deering Goodtime and most critics seem to be missing the point: the Goodtime is not intended to be the last banjo you will ever purchase (if it is, the banjo was probably not the instrument for you in the first place).
Even in the short time that I have had it, I find it almost irresistible for its light weight and tone (just snatch it off the rack and practice for a while; much more tempting than my 12-pound alternative; although I do like my RK-35). The armrest and the capo spikes are also a welcome addition. Finally, the setup was perfect, just a quick tune and I was ready to go. It came in fast, even with hurricane Irma making weather not so great. This is my first instrument since 7th grade band, and I didn't really know what to expect. I decided to take up banjo in a whim after my son started guitar lessons. My instructor(who is also a banjo luthier) says it's setup great. It's easy to play, and stays in tune. He loves the sound so much that he ordered one for himself. I don't really have much to compare to in person besides my instructors resonator models that are so loud you can't think. I'm just learning, but have played it so much that I had to restring it already. It's light weight, and easy to handle. It sound lively, but not annoyingly bright like some built for bluegrass models.

I really like this banjo package. This banjo is hard to put down, at least for me. My previous banjo was a "no name" brand, which was ok to learn chords and strums. I progressed to the point where I felt I had to move up. I chose this Deering model and I'm glad I did. I play clawhammer and two finger style. The sound is crisp and true and it looks great. This package comes with every thing you need at a great price.

DEERING makes this Goodtime banjo. BanjoTeacher.com has an amazing deal on this banjo with all the goodies you get. I have played many of these Goodtime banjos with and without the resonator. The Goodtime series is a very well built banjo and a great sounding banjo too. There is a coolness about having one. These are fun to play too. Very basic and very nice. Some banjo pickers say get one just to have it. I know why they say this. Even this basement basic of the DEERING line is just as good as the rest of their line. This projects very well and the resonator versions of the Goodtime will surprise you too. Its a fun banjo and it lives up to its name Goodtime.
