My name is Jama and I am from Pendleton, Indiana. I started playing the banjo when I was 14 which was about 10 months ago. I'm still a beginner of some sort, but even though I'm not as good as Ross or my teacher, I still enjoy playing alot! (And my grandpa likes watching me too!) As soon as I get to where I can play on stage, my teacher wants me to take his place in "The Cowboy Band". I can't wait!

My name is Mark Pottoroff, I am 44 years old, never played a string instrument and have been trying to learn to play the banjo for about 14 months now, I live in Central Indiana where for some reason it is very difficult to find a banjo teacher that has morning lessons available, for I work second shift and simply cannot find a teacher available in the morning.

I had the opportunity to take a private lesson with Ross Nickerson when he came to Columbus Indiana. I jumped at the chance to drive about an hour and get to meet the only banjo teacher I have. More notes and another picture below.

Note: I tried to trade him some extra picking speed for a 95 mile per hour fastball. I wish.......well, at least for a season or two.

He loves picking the banjo, that's for sure and learning quick!

I'm Dana Kollman. I live Catonsville MD. I've been playing for a few years and take lessons from Ross Nickerson	Name: Dave Vinci Home town: Mattawan, Michigan. Ok, here's a photo of me that was taken at a re-enactor's festival. I'm playing an 1840's fretless banjo that I built from a kit from Bob Flecher. Biran Jurek recently got his Deering Goodtime signed by Earl Scruggs, Louise Scruggs is in the photo too.
My name is Nick Teta from Charlestown, Rhode Island.I took up the banjo 6 months ago. I presently have 3 banjos. The one I'm holding is a Gibson, Earl Scruggs, Golden Deluxe. I hope someday to get good enough to play it. The one I use the most is a Gold Tone, White Layde and my kicking around banjo is a Goodtime.	This is Bill Jones from Tallahasse, Florida. The banjo is a Samick (I think its a 350TT but I'm not sure) I live in a small village called Cheddleton, in Staffordshire, which is in the centre of England-about 8 miles from the industrial city of Stoke-on-Trent, which is famous for its pottery(Wedgewood and Royal Daulton etc)
"Donn Gilray, Jr. Rowlett, Texas. Aida banjo. Had it since 1980. Just repaired it and am re-teaching myself with the aid of Ross's on-line lessons and Scruggs Book. Also working from "A Banjo Christmas" tab book. I have 7 children, 2 in college, and am retired from the Navy." These are Donn's daughter's, Katie and Genny to the right of him. Donn got in early and bought the second Banjo Encyclopedia sold, ever, that may mean something someday. Thanks, Donn	Here is Donn's daughter, Katie Gilray. Donn says: "Katie is going to 2nd grade. She likes to listen to Dad and went to a lesson with him and wanted to learn, too. She uses his Deering Goodtime II for now. She has really only been playing for about 2 weeks." This is Genny Gilray, she really is learning, not just a pose! Donn says: "Genny is three yrs old. We normally put her on the floor with a towel in her lap to help stabilize the banjo. She really is learning to play the banjo."
Dr. Catherine Price is one of very best students! Here is the latest musical addition to Catherines' Family. Anna Price!	My name is Wayne Langdon of Copperas Cove, Texas. I am a 56 year old retired US Army Senior NCO. I played some back in the 80's laid it down due to kids, career etc etc. Picked it up again last year after I found I had cancer and was going to be disability retired and needed something to do. My banjo was set up by Kyle Smith and it will be a very long time before I outgrow it if ever. I met Ross in Austin for the banjo workshop last year.
Kay Mcloughlin, Montpelier Vt. I met Kay at the Maryland Banjo Academy. She was instrumental in setting up our recent banjo workshop in Vermont. She's been playing about a year now and loves that red Goodtime Banjo.	Gail Osha is one of Kay Mcloughlin's buddies in Vermont. We visited her farm. Her and husband manage about 80 head of Hollstein dairy cows. Breathtaking scenery. She is a fantastic musician and let's it fly on the banjo too!
Lea Kachydorian is a hell of a picker, fun person and isn't shy about jamming either. I met her at the Maryland Banjo Academy too. She lives in Vermont as well.
This is Randy Davis, he's 11 yrs old. , he started picking the guitar when he was 9 and took up the banjo a year ago. He plays with a group in his church. and has no formal training. I'm a ministers son but banjo picking at the alter? Why not?	This is Jean Louis Lebourgeois from France. 46 years old, he started to played the Banjo since Half a year ago! But he played all, guitars, bass, and drums, (it was only for Rock'n Roll, and blues) But he fallen in love with the country (old song's). He takes all its courses of banjo by Internet with Ross, that occurs superbly well, and even if the United States is far from France, with BanjoTeacher, and his associates, one feels surrounded, and finally of very close account! I bought Ross Nickerson's Banjo Songbook because it has all the favorite songs I wanted to learn and I had to start somewhere. I've spent many many hours listening to the CD, following along in the songbook and watching the DVD to see where Ross puts his fingers. So far I have four songs committed to memory and play them fairly well, according to Ross. I had the opportunity to take a private lesson with Ross Nickerson when he came to Columbus Indiana. I jumped at the chance to drive about an hour and get to meet the only banjo teacher I have. Ross told me that he wanted me to send him some pictures of the lesson, my wife Carol is a photographer , she went with me and to write a little information about myself because he wanted to put me on his website. To all of you out there please believe me when I say that if you want to learn to play the 5-string banjo and to play all the favorites just buy The Banjo Songbook. I have for many years wanted to learn buy never tried because of the unavailability of banjo teachers around here. So once again, if you want to get started, buy the Banjo Songbook. It's working for me. I'd like to thank God, for it is through him that all things are made possible, my wife Carol for buying me my first banjo and Ross Nickerson for teaching me the banjo in the privacy of my own home.
