Peter let me try one when I was in Australia on tour in 2008. One of the keys is that it has an actual mini flathead tone ring. It sounds like a banjo even before you plug it in. One of the unique and special things about Bellbird banjos is that Peter has flexibility in making tone rings that other builders likely don't have. The tone ring in my Bellbird model weighs about half as much as a normal flathead and sounds every bit as good or better. Who wouldn't want a lighter banjo that sounded as good as a heavy flathead. Its only a matter of time before it catches on. The light light weight ring in my signature model Bellbird Cracka has flathead volume and punch. Things like like this always take a bit to catch on, it's easy to think that if its not heavy it cant sound as good but that is not the case.

The ring in this electric produces a sound like a flathead, but doesn't feed back and can be cranked up to accommodate any volume setting you might find yourself in. Its not for the acoustic purist but its perfect for electric situations. I personally like them both but realize that you need two different pieces of equipment to tackle the different genres.
