....Well Ross, the CC Carlin came in today, and it was well worth the wait. I dearly love this thing already, and I've only played on it
a half hour! If a person can't learn clawhammer on a banjo set up like this one, then there's absolutely no hope for them. I'm very impressed with it's looks, feel and sound. The tacks were done just right, and planetary tuners were well worth putting in. Being a Bluegrass player, the 12" pot makes the banjo look so much more balanced....The scooped neck on the CC will take some getting used to, but I sure like the muted tone up there. You have a winner in the CC. Thanks for everything. It was ready to play right out of the box! Jeff M

H Chris Oct 28, 2022 | This is a fantastic banjo I spent months comparing this with the comparable brand 'D' that was made in the USA. Once I learned that each Gold Tone gets a full setup in USA, I felt a bit better. Ross made it very easy with his comparison table of the CC12 vs brand 'D'. So, I ordered it on the evening of 4 October and it arrived on 8 October with the optional spikes installed on the 7th and 9th frets. Yes, Ross answered the phone personally and answered all my questions. The fit and finish of the blond maple are incredible and the contrasting fretboard make this look like a professional instrument. I am just starting to learn clawhammer style and this banjo makes it so easy to play. With just the slightest tweak of the truss rod, the fretboard was back to being perfectly flat. Not surprising, as it went from Gold Tone factory in Florida to a much dryer Northern Virginia. Now after it settled in to its new home, it keeps its tune almost forever. The planetary tuners and zero fret are an extra bonus. This is my second banjo I bought from Ross and I have been totally satisfied. That's enough writing, now back to pickin' n' grinnin'! |

Dale Tillis Oct 3, 2016 | My New CC Carlin I am loving my new banjo. It is exactly what I wanted. First, it is absolutely beautiful with the blonde look and all the construction features. I added the planetary tuners and the 7th fret spike. The finish and fit looks perfect and it is a substantial instrument. Not a real lightweight at all. Second, is the sound and tone which is a bit mellower but still sounds like a true banjo. I love that sound and the thump I get on that head. Sweet! You can not go wrong with this banjo. It took a few months to receive it, but Ross kept me informed of the delivery and if anything it made it seem like this was custom made specifically for me. You can not go wrong with this banjo. Very pleased. I need to get back to it. Thank you. |
